Townsend Lumber loves being a part of your exciting new DIY projects! That’s why we offer 100% locally sourced mulch, woodchips, sawdust and shavings straight from our sawmill. All of our products are made from clean and natural sawmill materials, making them a fantastic option for gardens or other landscaping projects you have on the go.
And because our products come straight from our facility, you’re always sure to get the best price. For organizations or municipalities that require wood covering products, we can provide FSC certification.
Mulch Makes a Difference
- Permanent beds only need to be refreshed/top dressed occasionally
- 3-6″ layer of mulch is sufficient for gardens
- Reducing mulch depth around plant stems reduces the chance of heat damage
- Reduces moisture evaporation, helping to conserve water
- Reduces splashing from rain or irrigation, thereby reducing spread of disease
- Blocks germination of many weed seeds

NOTE: During the off-season, the mulch yard is not always staffed. If the gate to the mulch yard is closed, please continue south on Jackson Sideroad to 1250 Jackson Sideroad (driveway on the left with the Canadian flags on either side) and visit our staff in the Sawmill Office.

Aged Bark Fines
- Created through a controlled aging process, this dark coloured material has high organic matter, uniform texture, and a neutral PH. Perfect for soil mixtures and amendments.

Premium Aged Bark Mulch
- Created through a controlled aging process, Aged Premium Bark Mulch is screened to a uniform size and natural dark colour. Perfect for flower beds and gardens, this material is lower in carbon than fresh mulches and woodchips, which pulls less nitrogen from your soils.

Economy Bark Mulch
- Raw unscreened bark mulch of varying size and colour. This material is fresh from the sawmill and, like all of our products, contains no recycled materials.

Shredded Hardwood Mulch
- With varying particle sizes, this material is produced using clean hardwood blocking straight from the sawmill without any recycled materials added. Perfect for a lower cost option in ground covers and trail beds.
