Townsend Lumber Donates to Local Forest School
Townsend Lumber is so pleased to present Norfolk County’s original forest school, Nature’s Calling Environmental Education Facility, with a $10,000 donation.
Located in Turkey Point, Nature’s Calling forest school strives to foster rich learning experiences through nature connections for children in their early years. Through play-based, place-based, and inquiry-based learning, children are given daily opportunities and hands-on experiences to connect with the natural world. Students are encouraged to share what they are curious about when it comes to environmental education and the education staff at Nature’s Calling takes it from there.
At Townsend Lumber, a deep respect for the land and a commitment to responsible forest management is at the core of our business and it is this synergy between the values of Townsend Lumber and those of Nature’s Calling Environmental Education Facility that made our decision to donate to Nature’s Calling an obvious one.
Our hope is that this donation helps to instill a wonder and an appreciation of our forests and of nature at large in future students of Nature’s Calling.
